The SSI Open Water Diver licence allows you to explore the underwater world and dive anywhere in the world, wherever and with whoever you want. This gives you access to a world full of adventure, friendships and unforgettable experiences. Diving is a wonderful way to experience nature and become part of a close-knit community of diving enthusiasts – an experience many people only dream of.
Don’t have much time, or want to take it easy? With SSI programmes like Basic Diver, Scuba Diver and Indoor Diver, you can learn to dive at your pace. These programmes give you a foundation that you can easily upgrade to Open Water Diver later on. Just follow the additional training when you are ready, and expand your skills and capabilities.

Your first underwater experience, starting with basic exercises in the shallows and 1 dive to a maximum depth of 5m.
2 hours of which 1 hour in the water.

Your first step towards a diving certificate, starting with 1 hour of theory, basic exercises in the shallows and 1 dive to a maximum depth of 10m.
With this certificate you can:
- Do a guided dive again up to 6 months after this without having to do the theory again.
- Up to 6 months after this, this dive counts as the first dive for an indoor or open water diver training in all SSI diving centres around the world
3 hours of which 1 hour in the water.

scuba diver

This is a basic diving certificate, consisting of theory, swimming pool lessons and 2 dives. With this you are allowed to dive anywhere with an instructor up to 12m.
You can then switch to an indoor or open water certificate provided the extra lessons and dives.
Online theory lessons and 4 hours in the Duiktank including 2 dives.
Possible from the age of 10.
Indoor diver

This is a basic diving certificate, consisting of theory, swimming pool lessons. With the SSI Indoor Diver certificate in your pocket, you are authorized to dive with a buddy in indoor diving facilities up to max -18m.
You can then switch to an open water certificate provided the extra lessons and dives.
Theory will be based on home study + 8 hours in the Dive Tank including 4 dives.

This is a diving certificate, consisting of theory, swimming pool lessons. With the SSI Open Water Diver certificate in your pocket you are authorized to dive with a buddy to max -18m.
Theory will be based on home study + 10 hours in the Duiktank including 4 dives + 2 dives in Gavers.
